Introduction

The AirMetrix platform is designed to facilitate the upload and analysis of various types of geospatial data. This document outlines the supported file formats that users can upload to the AirMetrix platform.

Supported File Formats

Maps / Imagery

  • Geotiffs (.tiff/.tif):** These are georeferenced raster images that provide detailed imagery. Commonly used for mapping and analysis, Geotiffs contain embedded geospatial metadata.

Models

  • 3D Tiles (.zip):** This format is used for streaming large 3D datasets, including 3D models of terrain, buildings, and other features. Files should be compressed in a .zip format for upload.

Point Clouds

  • LAS Files (.LAS):** The LAS file format is a public file format for the interchange of 3D point cloud data between vendors and customers. This format is primarily used for storing lidar data.

Geodatabases Files

  • Shape files (.shape):
    •  Shape files are a popular geospatial vector data format for geographic information system (GIS) software. They are ideal for storing the location, shape, and attributes of geographic features.
  • GeoJSON Files (.geojson):
    • GeoJSON is a format for encoding a variety of geographic data structures using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). It supports points, line strings, polygons, and more.
  • KML Files (.kml)
    • Keyhole Markup Language (KML) is an XML-based format for representing geographic features in two or three dimensions. KML is used for displaying geographic data in an Earth browser, such as Google Earth.

Conclusion

The AirMetrix platform supports a range of file formats suitable for various types of geospatial data analysis. Users are encouraged to ensure their data conforms to these formats to leverage the platform's full capabilities effectively. For any further assistance or inquiries about file format compatibility, users should contact the AirMetrix support team.
